Regency Supports Inspiring Doctor to Deliver a Health Mentorship Program

Through grant funding from Regency Assurance, Dr. Tivon Browne successfully rolled out a Health Mentorship Program, an initiative aimed at exposing young people in Nevis to careers in healthcare. Driven by Dr. Browne’s passion to foster youth development, the program equips aspiring health care professionals with essential skills and knowledge.

In partnership with the Department of Youth in Nevis, the Ministry of Health and various health care professionals, this impactful program reflects Regency’s values and ongoing commitment to the United Nations Global Compact by promoting community health, youth empowerment, and sustainable development.

Designed for young people aged 15-25 years old, the program provided hands-on healthcare training, professional mentorship, and exposure to a wide range of medical careers. Participants were equipped with practical skills such as blood pressure and glucose checks, while also assisting in community health screenings and gaining firsthand experience in patient care.

Dr. Browne, a dedicated General Practitioner at Alexandra Hospital and recipient of the 2023 Youth Impact 12 Award for Health and Wellbeing, brought his passion for youth engagement and public health to the forefront. His mission was to inspire the next generation of health professionals through education, mentorship, and real-world learning.

Kate Tebbet, Head of Community Engagement at Regency Assurance, commented:

“At Regency Assurance, we recognise the vital role that access to education and healthcare plays in building resilient communities. Dr. Browne’s initiative exemplifies the kind of transformative impact we strive to support. This program not only nurtures future healthcare leaders but also directly benefits the health of the wider community.”

Last month, World Health Day was observed and this year’s theme, “Healthy beginnings, hopeful futures,” resonates with community initiatives like Dr. Browne’s program as part of the broader movement to bolster health systems and prioritise well-being from the very start of life.

Regency Assurance remains committed to youth development and community health. Through this partnership, Dr. Browne’s program has helped inspire Nevis’ next generation of healthcare professionals.
